Trip to New ... Arcumeggia

name Arcumeggia, fraction of Casalzuigno in the province of Varese, probably derives from "Arx media" (rock in the middle of two valleys, and Valcuvia Valtravaglia) and the village is known to be among the first countries to have Italian frescoes by famous artists painted on the walls of houses.
As Arcumeggia represents a sort of "perfect twinning" with Cadorago - thanks to our Murarte - we chose this destination as the first report of a "day trip", which combines scenic interest of cultural enrichment and artistic.
Arcumeggia on the walls of the houses are paintings that bear the signatures of famous artists, which began to operate since 1956, when the then Provincial Tourism Authority of Varese, decided to make the Arcumeggia Venue Painters on vacation.

Among the first artists included Achille Funi, Eugenio Tomiolo, Gianfilippo Usellini, Francesco Menzio, Fiorenzo Tomei, John Brancaccio, Enzo Morelli, Bruno Ferruccio Saetti and terraces, which are followed by other famous painters such as Sassu , Remo Brindisi, Joseph Migneco, Gianni Dova, Aldo Carpi and Umberto Faini, as well as local artists such as Innocente Salvini, Antonio Albino Reggiori and Pedretti.

A visit to Arcumeggia, a village perched on the slopes of Monte Nudo, is suggestive and provides panoramic views of the Valcuvia and Lake Maggiore. You can start frescos from the square in front of the church of St. Ambrose, with the fourteen Stations of the Cross. Slowly, then, passing to the village, not forgetting the courts, which preserve the works of students of the many courses of fresco, and the painter's house, collecting other evidence. Walking through the streets of Arcumeggia is relishing the beauty of a harmonious life size; beauty that has been rightly remarked that the employment of painters and artists, whose works have increased the value of scenic landscape of the place.

activity to maintain this valuable initiative has never ceased. Summer courses are held each year International Fresco's, organized by the Academy of Brera. Dedicated to the students of these courses started in 1961, in the heart of the country is just the Way of the students, which displays several panels painted, and which also houses, in a small exhibition space, the plaster sculptures of Joseph Cerini (1862 - 1935) and John Vidin (1899-1994), artists from just Arcumeggia.
